Mommy to Jamir
Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML)
February 2017 – September 2024

On May 31, 2022, my son Jamir was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). We never imagined how much our world was about to change. Despite everything he endured, Jamir faced each day with courage and strength far beyond his years.
In March 2024, after nearly two years of fighting, Jamir relapsed. Just weeks later, while he was still hospitalized, he contracted bacterial meningitis caused by Rothia. It changed everything. His treatment plan shifted dramatically as doctors worked tirelessly to give him every possible chance.
Then in June 2024, something incredibly rare happened: Jamir experienced a lineage switch, moving from ALL to Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). The doctors told us it was triggered by one of his chemotherapy regimens. It felt like every time we found a path forward, another obstacle appeared. Jamir endured so much suffering, but he kept fighting with everything he had. He was so brave.
When we learned that our options were running out, we discovered On Angels’ Wings and reached out. Under the dire circumstances, they moved quickly—arranging for a photographer to capture one last family photo. They gave us the gift of time standing still, a chance to hold onto one precious moment together.
Jamir’s greatest love was his family. He was a true momma’s boy, who adored cuddles and cherished every moment spent with those closest to him. He had three sisters and was such a loving brother, always proud to be by their side.
Jamir was full of life, laughter, and energy — always dancing, playing pranks, and making sure he was heard. He had a passion for cars and monster truck, always saying he would be a monster truck driver when he grew up. Confident, funny, and gifted at everything he tried, he made a lasting impression wherever he went.
Due to his extraordinary strength, Jamir was named an Honorary First Sergeant of the United States Army National Guard just three months before his passing, a tribute to his courage and the lasting impact he made in his seven short years.

That photo session changed our lives forever. Our hearts are broken in a way we never imagined possible. We never thought we would lose him.
Now, we’re launching the Jamir Strong Legacy Foundation in his honor, helping other families facing childhood cancer while keeping Jamir’s memory alive.
The photos On Angels’ Wings gave us are treasures beyond words. My mother, my sister, my children—we will all hold onto them forever. Without those photos, we wouldn’t have that final memory of being together as a family. I can’t even describe what it would have felt like if we’d missed that chance. Those images are a gift we’ll cherish for generations.
If you are ever considering On Angels’ Wings, know this: what they offer is truly priceless. In the hardest moments, when time feels unbearably short, they give families the chance to preserve their love and their connection. These aren’t just pictures—they’re reminders of resilience, of strength, of the bonds that endure even through heartbreak. They’re something you’ll carry in your heart forever.
