Our journey began on May 24, 2024, when we were told there were complications and an emergency C-section was needed. Maddy was born at just 27 weeks gestation, but her size measured closer to that of a 24-week pregnancy.

We had experienced a healthy pregnancy up until the 27th week. That’s when everything changed. Her placenta had stopped working, which caused a loss of blood flow. That led to her having a stroke, which then caused the bleeding in her brain.

We weren’t expecting any of it—not the early delivery, not the complications, and certainly not the emergency C-section. The day she was born, we were told she had bleeding on both sides of her brain and her kidneys were showing signs of failure. They only gave her one day to survive, but our little angel fought and lived another two days.

On Angels’ Wings came in and helped us cope during those difficult moments. They took many photos of our precious baby girl, and we were so incredibly grateful for that gift.

For the future, I hope to never go through the loss of another child. I hope to be able to have another baby someday. But no matter what, Maddy will be with us every single day.

It never gets easier. The sessions with On Angels’ Wings gave us memories to hold onto while going through the grieving process. Just know that whatever struggles our children would have faced here on earth, they don’t have those struggles in God’s Kingdom. As much as we want them back, they are now living a better life in Heaven—whole and free. Losing a child is the hardest thing to go through. But Maddy’s memory—and the little time she was here on this earth—will never be forgotten.
