On Angels' Wings Board of Directors

Michelle C

Michelle L. Cramer

OAW President & Founder

Michelle had the vision for On Angels' Wings back in 2009, but the timing was never right. That is, not until she met precious Logan Ruth, a little boy whose smile changed her life. So, she took the dive and started OAW back in June of 2013. And, as long as she continues to let God lead the journey, she is certain this ministry will do amazing things for families in need of memories captured with their precious little ones. She triumphantly proclaims that this is her purpose -- she feels it deep within her soul and nothing will stop her from doing what God created her to do.

In addition to pursuing her passion with OAW, Michelle has been a Springfield, MO photographer since 2007.  She also has a career as a freelance writer, penning text for several publications and websites (and the OAW Blog). She is also passionate about holistic health and plans to pursue certification as a holistic health coach one day. All the while, she works from home so she can hang out with her two boys, Eli and Lincoln, and her uber-supportive husband of nearly 15 years, Josh. Everything she does, she does for them. She also sings on the worship team at Life Fellowship Church, and volunteers her time as the Content Manager for Parents and Advocates for Gifted Education (P.A.G.E.).

Jennifer Snider

OAW Vice President

Jennifer applied to be a volunteer photographer with On Angels' Wings in February 2014 (just 8 months after the organization came into existence) through her business with Simply Taken Photos by Jen. Since that time, she's not only helped several families by providing her photography services to them, but she's participated in practically every fundraiser, information booth and event OAW has been involved in. In 2015, we asked her to step up as the area coordinator for photographers in Springfield, and she did so without hesitation and immediately took on several tasks. When the Vice President position opened up near the end of 2015, we wanted someone who has a deep seeded passion for our mission, and Jennifer's commitment every step of the way made her shine. Again, she accepted the position offered without hesitation.

Married to her fire-fighter husband, Brandon, for almost 20 years, Jennifer is a stay-at-home-mom with three children. She's been a photographer since 2008. Born an Arkansas girl, Jennifer loves the outdoors: kayaking, canoeing, camping, hiking and competing in trail, mud, and obstacle races. She also volunteers at the local Ronald McDonald House, serving dinner once a month to its guests.

Lisha Detwiler

OAW Secretary

Lisha has been married to her husband, Michael for six years. She is a stay at home mom, homeschooling her daughter Emalyn while also caring for her infant son, Elijah. Originally from Oklahoma, she is a southerner at heart and enjoys the simple things in life. She loves to worship the Lord, watch OU football, go on adventures with her family, and have good conversation while playing board games and eating yummy food with friends.

She has a heart to serve the Lord and show His love to those around her. It is this passion to show love and joy that sparked her desire to become part of the OAW board in June of 2016. And, although most of what she does as the OAW secretary is done behind the scenes, she seeks to pour God’s love and blessing into every task she is given and is a critical cog in the services On Angels’ Wings provides.

Ashley Riecke

OAW Treasurer

Ashley had been praying for an organization to get involved with and give of her time, so she could help others and be a good example to her children. She met our Vice President, Jennifer, in a local networking group called Masterminds of Biz, and heard Jennifer speak about On Angels’ Wings several times. What we do touched her heart and she had a desire to get involved, so when Jennifer mentioned we were in need of a treasurer, Ashley jumped at the chance.

Her over 10 years of experience in banking made her ideal for the position, but it was her commitment to volunteering at the OAW carnival Making Memories Day all day long that sold the Board on her belief in our vision. She’s been a tremendous blessing ever since becoming the OAW Treasurer in June of 2016.

Ashley was born in Illinois and moved to the Springfield area with her family in 2001. She married her husband, Chad, in 2009 and they have two children, Caleb and Peyton. Ashley also volunteers in the kids department at her church, The Venues.
Michelle S

Michelle Slavens

OAW Recipient Liaison

Michelle has owned and operated Absolute Screen Printing since 2008. She is very busy with her two teenage children Tyler & Hannah, along with her husband Tim of nearly 30 years. She volunteers every Monday serving a free dinner for those in need at Elkland Independent Methodist Church and singing in the choir there.

Michelle lost her first child, five month old Kaycee, in September of 1995. Ever since then she has been working toward healing. In January 2013 she formed Mending Hearts Grieving Support Group, providing words of encouragement to mend shattered hearts one piece at a time. This was the first piece of the puzzle, and she fully believes that becoming Recipient Liaison for OAW – showing support, encouragement and love that our families need after the loss of a child – was that final piece needed. Knowing firsthand what it means to lose a child, and to have compassion for families who are faced with difficult decisions, has given her heart a peace she could not have imagined. She is grateful for the opportunity to be a part of that healing process for others. And we are grateful that she is a part of On Angels’ Wings!

Krista Thompson

OAW Family Advocate

Krista is the first OAW board member to also be an OAW recipient. She and her husband, Corey, welcomed their second daughter, Kamry on October 15, 2013. Kamry was diagnosed in the womb with Trisomy 13, a chormosome condition. Krista says that, upon Kamry’s diagnosis, her Master’s degree in social work kicked in and she immediately began networking and searching for resources. And, while Kamry went to be with Jesus just nine days after she arrived, the Thompsons have remained advocates in the Trisomy community. “Her life has forever changed ours and we realize how precious each life and day is,” Krista says.

Krista has a passion for helping families and for the mission of OAW; making her the Family Advocate on the board was an obvious transition. Through her role, Krista makes sure that each family OAW encounters has as much information as possible regarding care for their child's condition, so they can make a fully educated decision on medical treatments and where to obtain them, should that be the path they choose. We believe that every path a family chooses for treatment is respectable and commendable. Our goal is to make sure families are not forced into a choice because they are withheld information about other treatment options.

In honor of Kamry’s memory, On Angels’ Wings -- in conjunction with Krista’s family -- provide heartbeat lambs to the local hospitals who receive a diagnosis for their unborn child that puts their life at risk. The lamb gives the family the opportunity to record the baby’s heartbeat. Additionally, Krista and Corey, along with their oldest daughter Brailyn and their rainbow baby Kloey, attend Northside Christian Church and teach a Financial Peace University class there.
